Helping drive the passion for Design and Technology

'History in a Box' Year 8 Project . Music 'Live For Now' by Daphne Willis  (7.5mb file )

Digital Kits made for the Tech teacher in a hurry.

Each Kit contains a number of Video Tutorials and quizzes:

  • Promotional Video To give students ideas and motivation to build the project.
  • Project Build Basic 'How To' content.
  • Hints and Tool Tips Short Stand alone Video content to show how best to use equipment. Great for OH&S Assessment. Watch your students knowledge soar.
  • Hard-copy Plans Details and cutting List. These are Copy Right and should only be used with the online or DVD content. Reading and answering a quiz on project Plans is a major skill development covered by online learning
  • Discount Year Level or more than one class creates a considerable saving.

Year 9-12 Metals

Formula 3. Using simple CAD commands students create their own 2D drawing that is sent away to industry and Laser cut, in 3mm steel plate. Students learn many practical skills building the wheels, axles and finely polishing their creations. These model vehicles can also be raced bringing basic engineering into the classroom in an exciting and innovative manner (see example below).

Video Material: Each video can have a SCORM quiz embedded. This enables a LMS to track student results. They are offered online and within the Moodle 2 in Digital Teacher. I am also looking at DVD delivery so that you can upload to your own LMS, as long as Copy Right can be followed.

Other Creative Possibilities

  • Individual Tutor: In conjunction with their class teacher I can tutor individual students for extra special attention. Suitable for high achieving students wanting to build that special project.
  • I also create video content for other education institutions. Equipment specific to your workshop needs.
  • Cheaper than you might think.

Folding BBQ A neat compact Fabrication project for MIG welding. Plan reading and tool testing through video is a great way for your students to gain excellent basic knowledge.

Other media rich units being developed include:

D&T Induction. Year 7-8 This unit has a focus on new students to the workshops. Through this unit students experience scale and measurement by laying out the workshop equipment on an A4 sheet. In Moodle students will do a safety quiz that relates to a Lesson where they have choices to go through different scenarios. Unit Timeline: One lesson to do the workshop layout and one to do the online content.

Personal Hand-held Storage/Display system. Year 7-8. Students build a unique personalised storage system combining beautiful timber, polished steel and acrylic plastics in a wide variety of amazing colours.

Sheet Metal Tool Box Through small steps and using off-cuts students will learn Plan Reading, Marking Out and basic hand tools. Make sure each student name and dates this project as it will be around for a long time.
